What We Do
HackUK runs free hackathons and tech events for young people aged 16-18 across Britain. We bring together students who want to learn coding, build projects, and meet other young developers.
Our events aren't competitions. They're workshops and build sessions where you'll learn from mentors, work on your own ideas, and actually finish something you can show people. No experience needed.

What's next from HackUK
Hack4Health
Hack4Health will bring together young developers to explore how technology can improve health and wellbeing. Working in teams, participants will develop practical ideas, build creative solutions and strengthen their technical and collaborative skills. Breaking Into the Tech Space
Two speakers. Real paths into tech. No filter. Whether you're looking at apprenticeships, uni, or just don't know where to start, this one's for you. Zeynel shares his journey from starting a FinTech apprenticeship at 18 to pursuing a master’s at Oxford. With over 7 years in tech, he brings key insights and honest advice for anyone trying to break into the industry. Yusuf shares how a Minecraft mod with 130,000+ downloads sparked a self-taught journey through Java, Kotlin, and TypeScript, leading to an AI startup internship and a Technology Degree Apprenticeship at J.P. Morgan.

Campfire Birmingham
Campfire Birmingham was run by the Refract Foundation, with us along as co-hosts. It was a day in central Birmingham for teenagers interested in tech: coding, making things, and actually meeting other people who care about the same stuff. We were mostly on hand to help out: running short workshops, sitting down with people who got stuck, and giving a bit of direction where it was needed. A fair few who'd never written a line of code before walked out with something that worked.

Counterspell Wolverhampton
Counterspell Wolverhampton was a weekend-long game-making hackathon for teenagers from across the West Midlands. Everyone turned up with nothing but an idea and had two days to ship a playable game; some a bit rough round the edges, a few genuinely great. Mentors dropped in throughout the weekend to help people get unstuck, and no one left without having picked up something new.
